Hey everybody on the forums, I need to know something. My check engine light came on and I went to Nissan to see what was wrong with my 95 Maxima. They told me that my E.G.R. was clogged because of the fuel emissions and that I had a failing O2 sensor. I know that I can probably buy an O2 sensor for less than the $300 they told me, but I was wondering where the E.G.R. is located and if it's possible to clean it myself. To clean it out plus the new O2 sensor, its gonna run me close to $800.00 if I go through Nissan(:( ). So I figured I would ask to see if maybe i could clean it out myself and save a couple hundred dollars. If anyone can help, please do. I dont know if this will help any, but i have a 1995 Maxima GXE Auto. Thanks guys!

The o2 sensor is easy to replace.
Cleaning the EGR system is a big job. You may have to take the intake runners off the car to clean out the passageses.

Oh shit, my light has been on for like 2 weeks now..... Is that wrong with my Max as well or could it be something else. I have another problem as well but I'll start up a new thread labeled: WHATS WRONG :(

thanks for the responses. I'm not a maxima specialist yet so can anyone tell me where the O2 sensor is located and how I can get to it? Thanks, I'm glad that it is possible to clean the E.G.R. myself. Where is the E.G.R. BTW. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
