wont turn over / passkey II

I shut off the car yesterday and It refuses to turn over today. I jumped the starter motor and it runs fine. I jumped the solenoid and it will start the car but after 5 seconds, it shuts down. The Lumina has a 3.1 and it has a pass-key II anti theft system. I have 2 keys and tested both of the pellets in them, they are exactly 1866 ohms each. I think the keys must be ok. I have somewhat of a diagram showing a module that receives a signal when the key is slid in the key cylinder. It also shows the "theft deterrent relay" that operates to engage the starter solenoid. I suspect that the module is bad or the module isn't receiving the key signal from the steering wheel console.
I have never been into something like this but it sounds pretty straight forward. What I don't know is how to access all of these parts. How to take the steering wheel column apart and how to get to the theft module and theft relay. It says the module is up front behind something called "I/P". If anyone has been through this or has knowledge or diagrams or procedures that will help out, I would be very thankful. I really don't want to bypass the system if possible, but if it is more logical to by pass it, I would consider it.
thanks in advance, Rex

I just wrote about it in another thread.
Bypassing the theft deterrent relay is simple - remove the lower cover
of the steering column and identify the contact on a big black switch
that becomes hot when you turn the key to "engine start" position.
Connect this contact to the starter relay coil - you can use the fuse
connector on the right-hand side of the vehicle since it's more
convenient plus your circuit will be protected by a fuse.
