PO 135 02 sensor

2001 Town & Country 3.3L

Hi have a question can some one please help me with . My check engine light is on and i got a fault code po 135 02 sensor heater circuit .thx :frown:

You have two oxygen (O2) sensors mounted in the exhaust system. The upstream sensor is mounted in the exhaust manifold on the back side of the engine. The downstream sensor is mounted under the van aft of the catalytic converter.

A P0135 indicates a fault in the heater circuit of the upstream sensor. Each sensor has an internal heater to get it up to the required 600 deg F quickly after you start the engine to cut down on emissions. Yours apparently isn't doing that.

What to do? Until you have to have emissions testing done you could just live with it. You may notice a little sluggishness or hesitation until the sensor reaches the required temp on it's own. Probably less than 5 minutes. To repair it you'll first have to have the wire harness and connections inspected for damage. If that's good have the sensor changed. The sensor costs from $40 to $80 depending on the source. I'd recommend getting it repaired when convenient but, soon.

Yes, but not all the time. Should notice it while warming up and maybe now and then while driving if the sensor cools below 600 deg. The longer you drive it the more you'll notice it.
