Hey everyone!
It has been a while since I’ve posted, that’s because I’ve been working on this.
In my efforts to prove to everyone that a tuned model car doesn’t necessarily mean wild body kits and spoilers with oversized wheels, I have decided to pursue this project. My goal was to create the most detailed JDM tuned car as possible. What you see here is my efforts in creating a true JDM tuner car, a 1993 Honda Civic Eti (EG). My vision is to do everything that can be done to it, to draw a clear line between what the controversial term “Rice” means, and what a truly JDM tuned car is. A JDM car usually focuses on performance tuning and comprises of Japan market only parts such as Spoon and Mugen, additionally, Japanese tuners also like to take parts from brothering cars and retrofit them onto their cars (you’ll see what I mean later on). With that said, here is my vision taken form as the true JDM EG: :jumpie:
(i hope to own a very similar 1:1 car soon):jumpie:
Mods: (read clearfully)
Suspension/wheels:
-lowered 3inches to scale with Fujimi Integra Type R suspension
-Brembo front brakes and cross drilled rotors
-Nissan Skyline R32 GTR rear disc brakes and cross drilled rotors
-16inch Impul NS-01R wheels painted semi-gloss black with custom made low profile tires from Revell ITR.
Interior:
-Flat black with grey accents
-Rear seat removed, rear luggage area cut out to show spare tire area, gas tank top revealed, color matched to body color.
-Nissan Skyline GTR Hashiriya Racing Drivers Seat
-stock passenger seat
-Honda S2000 D Steering Wheel
-Nissan 350Z Pedals
Exterior:
-Tamiya Light GunMetal paint with clear coat

Nice it is, rice it is not.
JDM: Almost everything you listed
Rice: Nissan skyline brakes on a civic
I love it though, that exaust is awesome! I like the rims but I, personally prefer them gold, but it's your choice. I havea question, was the center of the rim left gold intentionally?
That dash is VERY IMPRESSIVE.
You have nice style my friend, hope to see your next car :flash:

Hey, Porkchop!
Nice job, really cool, and the little details like the license disks, and detailing on the dash are really cool. Here's an idea for the next kit:
You really went to town on this kit, and did of a lot of detail, but with putting drilled disks, and drilled pedals looks real cool - but why not get a real tiny pin-vice drill, and actually DRILL the holes out? Or maybe even just use a black paint to pick out the details. It's time-consuming to drill them out, but the effect is truly awesome.
The fart-can exhaust looks real scary, and I thought it would never work, but surprisingly you show us a picture of a true car with it. Scary, but true!
Oh - and your real number plate is a little skew - small detail, so not an issue... ;-)
May look like I'm complaining a little, but it's truly a great looking job you've done there. Nice paint-job, and overall really cool.
Maybe take the pics a little further away and crop them a bit more, as the camera is struggling to focus so close - if you crop, you'll end up with pretty much the same picture.
Keep up the good work! Nice job, keen to see what you get up to next...

the car looks really good man, you have done very well in your quest. only i can suggest is maybe a blackwash for the brakes (to get some black in the holes) and the paint surface on your exhaust looks odd...kinda wrinkly. other then that, stand up job.

If you're talkin about the Nissan silvia S15, which you can put F50 CALIPERS on, it's not rice becuse it fits, I hav'nt seen skyline disks fit on a civic, and it probably won't.
I dunno, now that I look at it, it's not so bad after all.

I also have a extra B18 engine planned to be put into a model, i was goin to put it into this one, but the hood was near impossible to open near the headlight lights, any sugguestions?

I think you did a very nice job on this model. It is definitely nice to see JDM styled civics on this site. Good Job indeed. Shouldn't you have put the parking stickers on the back hatch window? I agree with most everything on the kit except the rear disks. The reason why is, I own a 95 civic hatchback cx. I swapped in an LS vtec along with alot of stock JDM parts. I also converted to Integra GSR brakes all the way around. and with this conversion I encountered problems with the master cylinder and proportioning valve wich had to be changed. Integra brakes are no way comparable to skyline brakes so wouldnt this make for a pretty impossible install? I only ask because I am soo much into JDM Hondas. but anyway well executed.

ohh the windows stickers are supposed to go on the back window? i didnt know that...damn, which stickers, both? do u have pix? i'll keep that in mind for the next model...as for the nissan brakes, i agree that its not that realistic, but hey if Brembo works, someone has to be able to get these babies to :flash:

Very nice model. Good mods.
Actually, I think you are OK with the stickers. My last 3 cars I've bought from auctions in Tokyo and Osaka, real JDM, and I can't be sure coz they were removed on delivery but I think the stickers were in the front. Certainly the MX5 my EX had shipped over in '96 had them in the front, and still has, but then it only had a back window half the time anyway.

if you want a battle...go post it on honda-tech. From what i've noticed on a-f, "rice or jdm" it doesn't matter, as long as you put effort into making your models, and give/take comments.
Good job on the model tho, like the small detail that you did on the interior, w/ the spare tire area and dash.

Two minor things that don't work... your parking sticker and optional car inspection sticker are in the wrong places.
The parking sticker (white/blue, with car image) goes on the rear windshield in the lower left (outside), or alternatively on the left hand side of the car on the rear passenger window as close as possible to the rear. If it's not that way, your car gets towed.
The optional inspection sticker (red & white with a big number in the middle) goes on the front windsheild in the upper right. The optional inspection sticker is not placed anywhere else - the place that does the inspection puts it there and it can not be moved. Even if you were being a cheeky person and putting the parking sticker somewhere other than it belongs, the inspection sticker can not be anywhere else if it's a car in Japan. It's _impossible_.
second, skyline rotors on a civic? uh... that's not possible. The rotors are too big for a civic, and I can't think of anyone stupid enough to do some sort of mod like that in real life... it just isn't practical, nor would it give any sort of 'performance gain' (civics are FF!!).
That being said, it's not that bad of a completed model... you'd probably see a momo steering wheel before seeing a s2000 retorfitted in the real world. :)
