I have an 02 GTP and had my rear valve cover gasket replaced and ever since my low coolant level light comes on when I first start the car and usually goes off after 5 or so minutes of driving. I check my fluids and all is good, however, every time I start the car it comes back on and sometimes will reappear after it turns off. Any ideas?

check the wiring first, if it all looks ok, remove the sensor and inspect it for oil contamination, cracks and corrosion. if it all looks good take a look at the instrument cluster.
Potential Causes:
Contaminated Cooling System
Instrument Cluster
Sensor
Shorted Wire

Its a common issue. While you have the sensor out, try and clean it and put it back in. If it doesnt work, you may need to replace the sensor.
When they took the back valve cover off, did they drain the coolant to remove the belt tensioner bypass? If so, I'm willing to bet they filled it with prestone dex cool. I know stock delco coolant level sensor have issues with prestone dex-cool Don;t ask me why...?

I do know that he had to break the plastic elbows on the cooling lines so he had to fill back up and did use Prestone Dex Cool. Where is this sensor located? Thanks for the help by the way.

The sensor is on the passenger side of the car, taking the battery out will make it easier to get the sensor out.

Removing the passenger side headlamp assembly makes it even easier. :grinyes:
How many miles are on this GTP and when was the last cooling system flush and complete replacement of the old Dex-cool? Dex-cool is only good for 150K miles or 5 years, whichever comes first.
As suggested clean it first.
