Testors Maserati Merak SS.
After so many Wheels of Italy pictures I had to break down and get this Testors kit. Pretty easy curbside kit, but looks fantastic when finished.
I purchased this and started in on it a day or two after receiving it. That's how excited I was to build it.:runaround:
I'm still going back and forth on the mirrors as I don't like the location. I did leave the holes open on them. I'll probably add them later, but I want to enjoy the lines right now.:iceslolan
Paint: Cobra Colors Grigio Silverstone Metallic
Interior: Tamiya Red/Brown
Wheels: Tamiya Light Gunmetal with Testors gold in the centers.
Bumpers: Alclad Chrome
Tamiya semi gloss black accents with BMF chrome trim.
I'm a gaudy type, and added the spoiler, which looks great IMO.
Couple pics and hope to have better out-door ones tomorrow. Sun setting here and was just catching the last rays. A couple of indoor shots too.

Beautiful work, I want to build one now.
Actually the Merak that Clarkson drove on Top Gear disintegrated all over road. He collected bits of the engine in a bucket and showed everyone at the end. It was also discovered that the previous owner of that car purchased the SS badges and put them on himself. LOL

Nice job! I just saw the Top Gear segment. On TV, the front of the car has a great shape. Not the biggest fan of the rear, but I can see where the Ferrari 599 got its buttresses!

kaho, I believe this was a kit by another manufacturer. Most of this stuff is re-boxed by Testors. So, quite possibly you built an original back then.
Thanks guys!

I also built one of these as one of my first models and yup, it is a very good looking car/model.
I also believe that there was only ever one (motorised) kit of the Merak that everyone re-issued although I can't recall who is the original.
I think mine was a Revell or possibly Airfix box.
