Seth makes an apperance! Any silicone hose is better than a stock one. Im sure there may be an exception (Maybe vacume hoses?) but generaly speaking, they out-perform any of the ruber hoses in many area's. For instance, have you ever looked @ the inside of your radiator hoses? There is a ton of cloth material in there to help withstand heat... This also creates friction as the water passes as well as making turbulent water flow due to small "Ribs" and imperfections inside the hose. When it deteriorates were do you think it goes? Thats right, straight into your engine  Not little pieces, but whole dime sized chunks :bloated: Now just working in my Automotive Mantenance class in colledge I saw quite a few water pumps that had litteraly been hose sabotoged! There were bitz of it in there when I one off, others were all hacked up and we didnt find crap till we flushed the coolent out.
Why wouldnt honda or any other automotive company use silicone hoses instead? MONEY, the hose will cost you about $12-15.00 a ft. thats alot compared to a hose that only costs auto manufacturers $0.12 a ft.
Silicone hose is made hot (Unlike rubber ones) and are actualy blown out of a large solid piece in a presurized enviroment. This alows for PERFECT smoothness inside and out of the hose and will thus "Out-Perform" a rubber one. Also when the Silicone deteriorates unlike the ruber ones it deteriorates in verry small bits, about the size of the ball of a ball point pen, by this time the hose will have faded and lost its color and will be verry flexable. Generaly speaking, a silicone hose will outlive a rubber one. Thats all for now, stay tuned for seths next lesson.
