Hi AF people I am new to this whole modeling thing. I have been working on a tamiya supra for the pass couple of months. I started out building the car stock but got bored of it so I started to messing around with moding the turbo and intercooler and this is the out come. Tell me wat you think please feel free too comment. Sorry Im still trying to figure out how to add picture to this thread but here the link to see the picture http://photobucket.com/mk4

So this is where things got interesting I decided to do a single turbo setup. I cut off the stock manifold and build my own, ran some tubing
and build a intercooler as well.

lookin good man.
a couple of things i would like to point out though being a real life supra owner/enthusiat:
1: for realism purposes the turbo is positioned back wards ...if that makes any sense... the outleft of the compressor housing sits to the right, not left like you have it, this is because of the way the exhaust flows into the ehxaust housing making the turbine sping Clockwise if looking at it from the front of the car, the way you have it set up would not flow any air if it makes any sense ;) :)
2: the supra block is no aluminum, meaning it wouldnt be silver in color, but rather black, when i build these tamiya models i leave the block the color it comes in , black, but paint the cylinder head portion as well as the oil pan portion in aluminum silver.
i really like the way the exhaust looks.

Thanks for the comment. I own a supra myself (87 MKIII). I didnt catch the backward turbo untill I waz finished with it thanks for pointing that out. Ill correct that when im done with the body. As far as the engine block I wanted it to show some detail so I painted it aluminum thinking it was gray but it turned out ok. I am still trying to figure out how to build a BOV do u have any ideas??
lookin good man.

yes i actually do :) if you look at my other thread (my veryf rist build thats kind of messy....) you can see that i made a BOV out a very thing pipe and i stuck a piece of plastic pipe through it and filed down the nose of it to resemble the HKS SSQV bov. sorry if that doesnt make any sense i didnt take progress pics of the BOV as i was building it...

Looks good, did you prime the chasis tho? Nice detail in the engine bay, but try more coats of paint next time on the engine (white), light coats i mean. Because it looks like it pooled up in spots, usually that happens when too thick of coat is sprayed. Good luck!

No I didnt prime the chasis. The hobby store next to my shop ran out so I just sand it and hit it with tamiya white. Thanks for the tip. Im doing some body mods right now so Im going to prime it this time befor i paint

one trick i found to work really well when working with miliput putty is wetting your fingers just a LITTLE bit, it allows you to realllyy smooth the clay and get the shapes you want w/out leaving so much material to sand off later

I had another slow day at work so decided to work on the supra. The body is starting to take the shape I was looking for. With the body now a little bit wider. I would like wider rims but didnt find any that I like just yet so I started looking through my spare parts and came across a set of R34 rims. I took it and mod it a little making it wider in the rear basicly just added a lip on in and for the front I kept it stock. I didnt have any tires that was wide enough for it so I took some rubber tires from my brother old xmods and slap em on. Tell me what you think

Sanding blocks and sticks.
make your own using small bits of timber.
you'll need about a 2x1 inch flat surface for general large surface sanding and then smaller blocks for well, smaller areas.
you'll also want to nab a bunch of them wooden stirrers from starbucks, cut them into (multiple copies of) a point and glue varying grits (600 and above) so you sand into openings and other difficult to get into areas.
Another shape you'll want is a good 90 degree so you can sharpen up some edges on lips or wing struts etc.
If you really want a complete set, you'll probably want to fashion a few curved shapes too.
For what you're building where there are compound curves, you'll want a cylinder shape.
I've got a whole load of old 35mm film containers that I have fixed sandpaper around the sides of.
Tamiya acrylic paint jars and micro sol bottles are also a good diameter for this.

also, you should think about getting some of these (http://www.hiroboy.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2989) or one of these (http://www.hiroboy.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=155) if you don't already have one.
I also find number 12 swann scalpel blades very useful

I am still working on the body of the supra. It still need to be primed again and hit with some color. My next plan is to do a full rollcage and fix the single turbo set up. Please let me know what you think about my work.
