i have a 2005 pontiac g6 and i just installed a k&n cold air intake. a friend told me i needed to remove the "honeycomb" and then someone else said not to do it. does it hurt to remove it?

I wouldn't remove it. Unless you want to deal with the engine not running quite right and having a SES light on all the time. Plus those MAF sensors are expensive if you need to replace it if you damage it or remove the honeycomb out of the center.
