I have a 2000 regal with the service engine light on. I had it checked many times and it comes back that the cap on the gasoline is not right but when I do what they tell me to do it still comes. One tec told me there is a hose that goes from my gas cap to the tank that might not be working right.
Does anybody know what they are talking about and how to fix it?

I have never asked but I had it check about 10 times and every time the tec tells me the gas cap is not tight. I bought a new cap but same problem. They tell me make sure I get the three clicks when I put the cap back on.
Any ideas?

Here is a thread that gives some detail on the gas cap code. Probably P440 which is large leak detection.
