Clutch questions

Hey all,
I had a question on clutches and I hope this is the right forum lol. Ok so I have a 3004 chevy aveo and its my first car and I just had a question concerning clutches. Is it bad to hear a slamming noise? I assume that means that it wasn't let out slowly enough or reving the engine too high and shifting. What does it mean to hear a whomp noise exactly and only on ocassion does it happen like if I shift from first to second and im trying to accelerate fast like going through a light. Is it ok to hear just every once in a while?

Also how bad is it to rev your engine to 3500- 4 or 5 thousand rpms and just take your foot of the clutch? I only did it to spin the wheels a few times when I first got the car but I realized it probably wasn't a good idea and stopped after doing it a total of maybe 10 times. Now I try to take care of my clutch.

Lastly is it bad to downshift and the car goes wahahahwhoom and jerks a bit? Like trying to downshift from 3rd to second but its hard to do without getting this. My car doesn't like downshifting from those gears much I guess lol.

All of those clutch drops have probably ripped an engine mount. That is probably the slamming noise.

With your downshifting, let me see how to explain this. I'm assuming you have a tachometer. I have seen manuel transmissions without them but like this. If your in 3 gear with the tach at about 3000rpm. Take it out of gear, tach it up to about 3500 rpm then get it into 2 gear. Kind of lets the engine meet the speed of the lower gear. I'm assuming when you down shift, the car lugs foreward a tad and the engine kicks up loud going wahahahahahaoom! lol. Obviously when you downshift in any form, the engine will get louder but if you let the engine meet the speed of the lower gear you won't have that lug on the engine.

okay, so when you downshift, try stepping on the brake a little bit if the revs are not low enough for the lower gear yet. You can actually hear when you have to downshift, it's like the engine makes this low rumbling noise. You'll get an ear for it once you get accustomed to your car.
About letting the clutch go: you never just take your foot off the clutch, you always do that slowly. Imagine the system: the clutch reallly is a connection between the engine and the drive system of your car: if you step on the clutch, the connection is broken, so anything you do won't have an effect on the cars movement, eg you could rev up the engine all you want, it wouldn't move. However, if you were to rev up the engine and then you suddenly let go of the clutch (provided that a gear is selected), it would kind of 'jump' forward because the connection is now made and whatever the engine does makes the car move. This is also the reason why your car stalls if you don't get enough revs to overcome the friction resistance, ie your putting in less than you need to drive off. Hope this made sense to you? Get your clutch fixed and then take care of it!

Let's remind everyone that we're talking about an Aveo. The transmission isn't designed to provide the quick shifts that a racer would. It's designed for economy. No synchros for quick shifts, just a slush box.

Jerking when up- or downshifting typically means you're not matching the revs to the car speed quite right. Do this enough and the CV joints can become damaged. Transmission designers expect some rough use within reasonable expectation of the car's performance...they can take quite a beating since the Aveo's main buyers are commuters and teens. But thrashing an Aveo like it's an Evo is asking for trouble down the line.

I suspect that the clunking you hear are the worn CV joints, broken engine mount, or maybe a worn differential.
