2002 Blazer 2wd 4dr, 151K miles. Recent tune up (plugs, wires, rotor, distr cap, fuel filter). It bucked a few times in the last couple of days while driving (a short stall) and then yesterday suddenly died while at speed on the highway. It turns over but will not start. I will begin the diagnostic process tomorrow. What are the top problems that these trucks have that may be the issue (dead fuel pump, crankshaft position sensor, etc.)?
Thanks,
George

Turn the key on without cranking and listen for the fuel pump 2 second prime cycle. If you hear the prime cycle, Check the fuel pump pressure.

It is the fuel pump or the wiring from the relay to the pump. No pump sound, no pressure but I do see 2 seconds of power output from the relay to the pump at ignition start up.
What are the do's and don'ts of r/r the fuel pump?
Can you drop the tank a bit to get to the fuel connections and wiring or does evrything have to be removed before lowering the trank?
Thanks,
George

First make sure it is the pump bad.
If bad replace with only a Delphi pump and take care droping down tank.
Yes sometimes you can lower tank some to get to lines and wires and hoses.
Also sometimes removing drive shaft gives more room to get to the top of tank to lines.
Do not break any lines and vents and wires.

OK, took the junk aftermarket pump back and bought a Delphi. The search function came back up and I got a good schooling on the issues. Will verify power and good ground at the pump. Does it work better to jack up the drivers side (F&R) or the rear of the vehicle?

George

You can back the vehicle onto ramps or jack the rear end up and use jack stands on the frame, not the axle housing. Using jack stands gives you a little more room.

So it sounds like I will have better luck if I raise the rear end as apposed to the drivers side for access and ease (ya right) of removal. I'll post back on the results.
