Cool, Aoshima having license agreement with MB. Maybe we will see more MB's in the near future.

Wow! THE SL63 is a kit I'm excited about! I doubt it comes with an engine (most Aoshima models don't, right?), but if it does, that engine can also be used for the new SLS-AMG Mercedes. Maybe that car is the next logical step if Aoshima starts producing more Mercedes models.

Nice surprise, let's hope it's followed by a Black Series.
Amazing it's taken so long to get a modern SL.
I'm all for more models of modern Euro cars :sunglasse

Yes, it does.
I guess their strategy of releasing both curbside and detailed kits at around the same time gave them enough clue that people do pay more for engine parts.
There will be two versions for October. One is stock, and the other comes with Brabus Mono Block E wheels.
My concern is that Aoshima might use the same low profile tires that don't quite fill the wheel arch, like their R35 GT-R kit.

Really they are about the same. Only real big difference is the points accumulation which lowers the price. To me it's like free shipping depending on the points accumulated.
I know that their prices are much better than HLJ though. I also think that shipping is just a bit better at HWJapan.

Prime example of shopping between the two:
MB 63 AMG Option is $39.35 at HLJ
HWJ has the exact same car for $32.00
Granted that HWJ is an outlet for Aoshima. So you do have to shop between the two for best pricing. However, I find that HWJ is usually always cheaper. The service is same as if not better than at HLJ.

almost everthing in HWJAPAN had at least 6% discount, but their shipping are slighty expensive than HLJ, so at the end, its about the same price,
BUT if i see anything that has 20% or more discount, i will buy it at HWJAPAN, defintely cheaper if the item is not on sale at HLJ :)

I ordered mine this morning.
Went with the SL 63 AMG Option Wheel...:naughty:
Decided to stay with HLJ as well...been buying off them for quite a few years now, and they always look after me..
PS; I'm pleased Aoshima went with "full detail" too...make a nice change.
I'm pleased they stepped up, where Tamiya appear to be stepping back, or so it would seam....maybe they will come good again....

From HLJ website,
This powerhouse SL is coming from Aoshima this October. This kit can be built either open-top or closed--the choice is yours! Spring suspension and an engine are included, too. This version features optional wheels. I sure hope they aren't having a lend of us.....but it looks promising...

Hello,
I'm very interested in this SL kit, can anyone tell me if there is a windowmask inside the kit? I always hate to mask the window trim, it doesn't look that great as done with the mask supplied by the manufacturer.
I'm always wondering if any aftermarket company have already mentioned any etch set for this SL kit?
Tanks guys!
JP

well, the Tamiya Ferrari F60 say they'll be the 2.4L V8 under the cowl, along w/ photo-etching but we'll see how "detailed" and accurate the engine is... right?? :uhoh::grinyes:

Overall, looks good. but some details are inaccurate. I don't think they nailed down the right grill shape, and I'm a little disappointed with the interior. The dashboard is inaccurate. For example, the instrument cluster is not set that far up the dash, and the door panels do not seamlessly integrate with the dash as they should. Plus, the center console and dash are one piece on the 1:1 car. I'll probably end up cutting out the center console and joining it with the dash before installation.

I wouldn't doubt someone is working on a trans-kit of the Black editions. Although Aoshima could possibly add it in later on. Who knows?

:sarcasmsign:
I hope Aoshima does it. No need for Fujimi (they need to be working on a 458 Italia), and I'm sure some of the Asian aftermarket companies are slobbering over their keyboards right now developing ridiculously overpriced Black Edition transkits of questionable resin design & quality & way too many photoetch frets. With the advent of Model Factory Hiro style kits, now we get the "Barrett Jackson" effect on imported transkits. I'd love a Black Edition SL, but the though of shelling out $150..$200... or more for an aftermarket transkit? Yeah, right :cwm27:

Yes, windowmask is included..
I believe Aoshima are also doing an etch set later....
Received mine yesterday after getting delayed too often...must have been popular right off the bat, hey...:runaround:
Overall first impressions are good....big box, compared to most 1/24 kits...
The molded parts all look good, the motor appears a little basic, but will detail up nicely...most wont be visible once installed in any case. :p
One downside I have noticed is tyres....:disappoin they look cheap....and are a loose fit on the rims. Some good quality Fujimi or Aoshima rubber tyres will fix that.
Not too sure about the included coil springs either.....probably just build it in a nice lowered stance..:naughty:
