Another problem I am having is the BRAKE light on the dash is on and will not turn off. The brakes are good and the fluid level is full. Is there any way to get this light off? I need to go to inspection by the end of the month.

Perhaps the parking brake is not fully released. This will leave the light on.

Are you in the habit of using the parking brake CONSISTENTLY?

If not, it may NOT be fully releasing.

The brake light is on when you first turn the key on (when checking all the warning lights) and stays on even after you release the parking brake?

If the brake does not fully release from the rear drums the light will stay on.

The parking brake foot pedal may appear to be released but if the cables running to the rear are rusty they may not.

When were the rear drums/brakes last serviced?

Aside from that or a possible brake booster or master cylinder fault, I'm plain out of suggestions.

Dash brake light being on might be from its "proportional" valve system as well. If this unit isn't working properly or has an air bubble stuck inside it (which activates its "pressure differential switch"), its dash brake light will remain ON.

Hope this area to investigate helps as well...
