Code P410 Help.

My father has an 01 Bravada that continues to have the code 410 error. He has had a kit installed for the problem which cleared the error for a couple weeks but is coming back on a regular basis again. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I have this same code. I haven't done anything with it except pull the air pump off to check it's condition(ie burnt, ease of spin, etc). It looked fine, but I didn't want to do anything else with the system for fear of screwing it up. If this system is NOT running right does it harm anything like gas mileage, engine life/performance, or anything that could cause serious problems? Thanks.

Because it adds air to the exhaust to try to react (thanks Smokey) any unburned fuel, the O2 sensors will be involved and the lack of additional air might cause the O2 sensors to signal a rich condition to the computer, which will signal the injectors to cut back on fuel and likely cause some cylinder misfires/dreaded P0300.
