88 gt convertible fuel pump replacement

just aquired a gt convertible 5.0 never had a stang before so what is easiest way to change fuel pump and float assembly my gas gauge shows full untill it is empty then gauge falls to e and light comes on need help fixing this already ran out of gas once

You need to drop tank. I replaced on 89 gt 5.0 . Small tank not that bad I own mostly caddys those are big so stang was piece of cake. Someone replaced before me on the stang and the hose in orig pump is factory bent ,the replacement was not. I had to make sure bend was not sharp cause it colapes. other owner before me made bend to tight. my pump was not bad the bend restricted flow but I still replaced. But unless they give you a prebent hose with your new pump or unless you buy preassembled system, watch not to make bend to tight I had car over year before it screwed up it started to run so lean both my header pipes turned cherry red.
