A/C repairs

Today the 95 Royal started making noises from the A/C clutch. Yep it's fried. I weigh the odds and decide to replace the compressor, accumalator and orfice tube, along with the clutch.

No, I'm not rich. I just don't want to replace parts every other month.

I've never replaced A/C components before. So, if I replace the parts and let a shop put in the freon/gas what do I ned to know?

Like changing spark plugs. SET THE GAP.
Or changing the oil filter. FILL IT WITH OIL BEFORE SCREWING IT ON.
Or changing a flat tire. STOP THE CAR FIRST.

What do I need to know before, during and after the parts change so that all the shop has to do is freon/gas?
