96 beretta a/c trouble

i have a 96 beretta z26 and the a/c doesnt work. the dealer i bought it at says they couldnt recharge it because of the air compressor or something.

how much would a used one cost??

About 30 bucks from a u-pull it yard. The dealer might have been refering to the type of coolant used but by 96 I think most of the cars were converted to the new type.
