Trailer lights......

I have a 1995 sport trac explorer.
I spliced my trailer light plug into the wires coming from driver side tail lights going to the License plate lights.

They worked great for about two weeks and then I jack knived my trialer and crimped and cut the wires between the trailer hitch and bumper.

I thought no problem and I replaced the plug and all the wires and still didint work.I used my tester and none of the wires coming to that plug have any juice now.

I pulled all the fuses on the interior fuse panel and none of them are blown.

So what is the problem?A fuse I dont know about?A relay?
Where is the trailer light fuse anyway?

Fuse 3 (15-amp) in the interior fuse panel is for the parking lights. Are you certain that fuse is still good and has power to it? If so, there is also a parking light relay that may have issues. Did you splice in to the tail light wiring, or use the trailer wiring connection? If you used the connection point, have you tried just unplugging the trailer wiring? The trailer lamp circuit uses a fuse in the underhood power distribution box, fuse 8 (20 amp).

I spliced intot he wires that go to that plug....I have replaced the inside fuse. All my lights on the truck work I just have no juice going to these wires.....I will try the one under the hood but i did check all the mini s under the hood and they looked good.....any other ideas?

The same fuse powers and parking light relay power the taillights and the feed to the trailer light relay, so you're right, fuse 3 in the interior fuse panel should be fine. I misread your initial e-mail and thought neither the trailer lights nor the taillights were now working.

There are 3 relays that switch power to the trailer lamp circuit. All three of these relays are powered by 20-amp fuse 8 in the Power Distribution Box. You need to verify that this fuse has power on both sides of it, it is supposed to be hot at all times. The relay coils receive ground from two different sources so it's somewhat unlikely that a ground issue would be causing the relays to not close. However, wires getting pinched would likely cause them to short to ground which should quickly blow a fuse. The fuse really seems like the most likely candidate.

I'm also not sure where the three relays for the trailer lights reside. They may be in the rear near the trailer light adapter plug or they may be in the Power Distribution Box. The wiring diagram I have doesn't specify their location.

Yes, I think. As I reread your original post I noticed you state you have a 1995 Sport Trac. The Sport Trac was not introduced until 2000 (as a 2001) so now I'm not sure what you have, and the wiring diagram I'm looking at may be for something other than what you have. I was looking at a wiring diagram for a 1995 Explorer.

yes I am sorry its not a sport trac.....its just a 95 2 door explorer...

So yesterday I went under the hood in the fuse panel. That #8 fuse has power to it. And I even replaced that fuse just in case, still no lights. So now what?

Is there any more relays I can try?perhaps a relay/fuse box I dont know about?

If any one could get me a fuse/relay panel diagram for a 95 that would be great, everything i find is for like 98 and newer.

You can probably find a wiring diagram in the Repair Info section of the Autozone website. You'll need to follow the wiring from the fuse to the connector I guess. I'd suggest you pay particular attention to the grounds.
