Throttle blade mod question

Hey guys i have a 96 jimmy with the 4.3l vortec and i was kinda skeptical on the whole removal of the air diffuser on the throttle blade. Will it ruin anything later on down the road? This is my first car and i dont have a whole lot of money to replace things if something goes wrong. I have read up on it a lot and know how to do it im just kinda scared to pull the trigger. I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thanks
