Manual vs auto

I am purchasing an Xterra, but I can't decide between a 2003 Manual transmission and a 2005 with an auto transmission. I know the 2005 has more horse power, but its an auto, would a 2003 manual feel as responsive - powerful as a 2005 with an automatic?

So you have driven both? Is there really that much of a difference? Is it worth the extra $6,000 or $7,000 to buy a 2005 over a 2003??

I have had my 02 manual since I bought it new. I would love to have the extra power of the 05. I like my manual. I mainly use my transmission to slow down in the snow and tow better. The extra power and better fuel economy of the 05' would be nice however.

I drove an 02, 03 supercharged and the 06 that I ended up buying. If you can afford it and are not going to seriously abuse it off road, buy the 05. If you are looking for something to build up for serious off road use, buy the 03. The first generation didn't have the front differential issues that the 2nd generation does.
