Coolant Level Sensor

Just wondering where the sensor is in a 1999 Regal. Past 2 morning light has been on. I opened the rad, and it was basically at the top, and the coolant tank had coolant in it also. I know it's not in the tank, as I had it out in the spring when I changed water pump. I'm wondering if it's just got crud built up or something, as it was fine once it warmed up.

that sensor is located in the passenger side radiator tank, between where the two trans cooler lines hook into the radiator. It's a small black (or possibly gray) box about 1" square with a wiring harness attached to it.

Just remove it and clean it first. Easy job. Just remove the passenger head lamp assembly to access the coolant level sensor. Some people remove the battery but that is not necessary.

Yes, system was bleed. Pump was changed last winter. Only just has this issue past couple of mornings when it's been cooler.

Just out of curiosity, if I take the sensor out to clean it, and top the rad back up after assembly, will I need to bleed the system again?

I didn't have to. With engine cold initially you can get the same effect by leaving the radiator cap off until the engine warms up or when the thermostat opens and then put the radiator cap back on. Also, make sure there is sufficient coolant in the reservoir and the radiator is topped off.
