Traqmate install done... NACA ducts in. Need Traqmate help.

Finished up the NACA duct and Traqmate install tonight.
Walked around Lowes until I found the piece of metal I was looking for in the lumber hardware section. Bent the bottom and drilled it to mount it. Used HD velcro to mount the display to the bracket and the processor unit to the tunnel. It's all set up for easy removal to download the data to laptop.

NACA ducts for some airflow in the cabin. I loosened up each mirror and slid the duct under. Then I drilled 2 holes in the duct and zip-tied it to the rollbar. I used some Gorilla tape on the leading edge. Drove it around the block and it works great.

Can anyone give me a crash course in using this thing? I found a PDF owners manual and will skim it tomorrow.
1. When I turn it on it says "Property of Joe Shmoe... w/ a phone number" for the previous owner. I looked through all the menus and couldn't find a place to cange this.
2. All I want to do is time my laps. Do I just got to record and click on "Laps" and let it acquire the GPS data and start driving? How do I let it acquire what 1 lap is for VIR?
Thanks,
Brian

The Traqmate antenna will receive fine if placed (velcro) on the flat area behind the seats viewing the sky through the rear window. No need to put a hole in the roof unless you want it there.

It's a race car... no worries on the hole. I sealed it w/ clear silicone anyway.
So how do I plug the base unit to my laptop? The kit doesn't appear to coem w/ a USB of any sorts. The end of the cable that hooks the base unit to the display unit looks like a keyboard our mouse plug though. Do I have to purchase a data cable seperately?

You can use any USB cable that has a normal end and then a mini usb connector. If you look at the side of the display unit you will see the mini connection. Not the round dongle thing you connect to the traqmate box. You can get the cable at best buy. If you are not sure take the display unit with you to the store. Did you get the Trackview software with the kit? If not you need to get that. It also contains the windows drivers for the display unit. LOAD THE DRIVERS first before you connect the display unit to the laptop. The instructions are very good that are on the disk, contained in the user manual. It will tell you how to change the name of the owner. It will also tell you how to add drivers, information about the car...etc. You can also go to the support forums on the traqmate website and get the coordinates for the start/finish lines for many of the tracks. They will need to be loaded using the software. You don't absolutely have to do that, but it makes it easier. The process for doing that in the car is talked about in the manual if the support forums dont have the information.
Hope this helps.

As above the display unit (thing you look at with the buttons) has a mini USB plug on the left side. You can use a standard cable such as one that comes with a digital camera or take it to electronics store to match up.
You do need to set the start finish line (can be anywhere on the track you like) for each track. Basically when you select "record laps" it will be looking for SF line. As you drive by set it and it creates a transverse GPS line across the track....you are done. You can label several tracks and drivers which helps with sorting the data etc. BTW if you put the SF line close to the real one it will number the turns correctly etc. in Traqview.
It it easier to name the drivers and locations when hooked up to Traqview.

I hooked it up to traqview and setup my name, my father's, and put in VIR. Then got the GPS figures for VIR from the traqmate site. We're good to go!
Tomorrow should be a blast w/ the new 3.89 gears and som air flow in the cabin.

Brian, once you get some data at VIR let me know and/or send me your files and I'll send you mine and we can compare!

Traqmate rocks... Spent a few hours playing with it tongiht. Pretty cool to see where I'm inconsistent and I was able to play my TBL vs. my father's TBL to see where I gain 5 seconds :D
Car hit 139 MPH max speed on the back straight tops w/ the 3.89 gears.

Oh... and an update on the naca ducts. They work wonderfully where I have them. They stay in place perfectly tucked behind the side mirror and zip-tied to the rollbar. The 2 of them was too much for me and the wind in my face was drying out my contacts. So I pulled the driver's side one and had much better results. I'm gonig to run 3" hose off the remaining passenger side one up over the rollbar and dump it into my lap.

Wow...3" inch hose in the lap. I am afraid I only need a 1" hose in my lap.
