Rear axel removal

I'm trying to replace the rear "chunk" in my '01 Silverado. I have the differential cover off and i can see the snap rings for the axels but i cannot get them off. Can anyone tell me what i'm missing? Thanks.

Have you removed the spider gear shaft pin and shaft and pin gears?
After doing that you may have to push in on axles for clips to be removed.
