I am looking for those that may have taken on this type of replacement project and what your experiances were. I am a hands on dude, but this one looks like a nightmare. Should this be left in the hands of experts (to screw up other parts like they usually do) or is it easy to do if one approaches this like heart surgery? Any good web sites (or experianced experts in the Phoenix area that would enjoy a weekend doing this and $150 / day working on it with me) that may assist me?

This is a great MR2, not super, and definetly not a clunker qualifier.

Me and my brother did mine yesterday...pain in the friggen arse...we removed the whole suspension assembly on the driver rear...He's a mechanic and he said it was a pain...not a nightmare but still harder than a normal vehicle...Everything is in the middle of the car so its either reach over the entire car or get it from the bottom...overall on a difficulty 8/10 for a hands on guy...just make sure you can lift the tranny back into position ( have a friend and a jack ) and make sure the car is WELL supported...
