new temp guage issues

i recently purchased an aftermarket oil temp guage.
what i need some help with is a just an answer to a simple question or two...

1. will the new guage (installed at the base of the thermostat) cause the radiator fan to not come on?
2. if not, what temp does the fan normally kick on at?
