Distributor Cap for Fujimi Daytona

I'm in the process of starting up a Fujimi Daytona build, and was wondering if any one is as disappointed as I am with the inaccurate Distributor caps.

My question is...I'm pretty sure the 250GTO has basically the same style caps, and was wondering if anyone knows if the Fujimi or Hasegawa parts are correct? I know the MFH caps for the 275GTC(or is it 375GTC) are correct, but it would be too much of a PITA to try to buy them alone, and I'm obviously not going to buy the kit just for those parts.... ;)

So, anyone seen either one, or better both? If so which is more accurate.

Please, no "why don't you scratchbuild them" replies. :grinno:

What are the distributors supposed to look like, and why is scratchbuilding not an option?

I used Detail master distributors, and with some modification they look like the Daytona-style caps. Not an exact match, though, because its hard to replicate the daytona caps on such a small scale.

Tried to upload both by local PC and URL failed...so here's the link.

Already have Detail master caps...not even close, but thanks.

Excellent! So much to learn from that one post alone! :worshippy

Thanks...already saw your thread, but like I said, I know accurate premade parts are out there..just wondering if the Hasegawa or Fujimi part is better.

I was going to include a link to one of my previous builds here. (Porsche 356B) but the thread is there but the pics are gone...what gives?

I also can't upload pics...is that turned off?

Yeah, that may do in a pinch, but it looks pretty much the same as the present cap I have....

Thx,Klutz!

You could always try the MFH ones from their 166MM kit - only $200+ per pair :D

The main thing missing from the Daytona part is the funny shaped hump on the very top of the distributor cap where the coil wire and two of the spark plug wires emerge.

Shown below are the distributors from the Hiro Testa Rossa kit. The distributors were originally cast with the caps facing forward.

The funny looking top piece was filed off and replaced with plastic card so the caps could be reclocked 120 degrees from forward on the car I'm doing. It took about 15 minutes.

I'm still with MPWR on this one.
Why don't you just cut a T shaped bit of styrene?

Yeah, Crate that's what I'm talking about, but I'd still like to see the Fujimi before I wrtie MFH and ask if they do spares, as I'm sure the language barrier might cause issues.

Thanks!

I still think you could have made the modifications yourself ten times over by now ;) :D

Ok thanks! I ordered replacement parts M53 and M54 from the Hiro kit...they are perfect for what I need....and I didn't have to scratch it....I'm already scratching plenty of parts for the car...most importantly the huge glaring omission from every single Fujimi EM Porsche and Ferrari kit...the dry sump oil tank. I've never seen it in anyone's build, ever.

Hey Lumpulus, great news. How was ordering parts from MFH? I need some headlights for my 250 SWB kit. Who do you talk to?

I didn't talk to anyone at MFH, I ordered from Mac at Mac's Modeling.
