Hello,

Both of my front power window motors on my 2002 grand prix gtp died out a year ago and I finally got to replacing them with after market parts from ebay. It worked great for only three weeks, and are both dead again. I checked for voltage at the connection point where it connects to the motor and the voltage appears to be normal and consistent with a reading of 12.56 volts with the car off or about 13.5 with the car running.

I also took the window regulator and motor off the car and attached the wires back on to the motor. When I pressed the switch I can hear the motor engage, but it does not spin. If I continue to press the switch the motor becomes quite hot. I did some researching online and this appears to be a sign of a malfunctioning motor. If so, how can two new motor go out so quick? Is there something that I am missing. Luckily, this parts have a 90 day warranty so I'll just send them back, but if anyone has any knowledge on what could be going wrong please let me know.

Thanks for your time and help.

Agree with the info that you have found... The motor is a dud..

I have done a handfull of these and its not a hard replacement.. But we use a parts store that deals with us and we get great prices from them.. Great to know people...

The units I use are Dorman units... I have had one that was bad from the word go..The replacement was ordered and in my hands the next morning( he usually has them on the shelf, turned out the one I bought was the last one...LOL )

On an Item like that you are generally better off trying to get them locally so that if you do have an issue or failure with the unit you can have it promptly replaced...:)

Hello again. Luckily, I am able to return the window regulators/motors that I purchased from ebay for a full refund. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll probably get something from Autozone or O'Reillys. Funny thing is that I took apart the old motors and cleaned them out and both are running fine. The problem is that I also took apart the regulators to clean them and now I can't re-string the mesh wire properly, specifically I can't stretch the wire tight will reassembling everything. I must have spent the half day yesterday trying to figure out this? Is there a trick in restringing the mesh wire?

Thanks
