Hello Everyone,
Can someone please tell me how often the PCV Valve should be changed on my 2007 Toyota Corolla? Also, I can see that the engine cover needs to come off to accomplish this. Its two nuts that come off easily with a my socket wrench, but how on earth do I get those two funny looking black "button like" things in the back to move before I can get the cover off? Any help is surely appreciated. THANX!! - tooleey

I'd look in your owner's manual for any need to check it, but don't worry I doubt it needs touching for a while. They usually don't start to get sticky until about 5-8 years or 90k-100k miles depending on the type of driving.
If the plastic fasteners are the large, flat headed type then a large flat-blade screwdriver can pry them up or better find an interior fastener removal tool. It has a bent handle and a split end to go under the fastener head. Wrap some tape at the bend to prevent scuffing of the plastic.
The PCV valve can be checked by simply shaking it in your hand. It if rattles easily, it is working. If not, a good shot of carb cleaner will usually free them up.
