Greetings , I'm already seeing the end of the seasons schedule up here in Minnesota & was starting to think south ... I'm running the original exhaust ; which every one knows ... Which tracks have "db" level restrictions ??? I would hate to travel 14+ hours to get shut down at tech :banghead: ... Thanks / Paul M. Winship

Not sure out there, but here in CA all our local tracks are 103db (Laguna Seca and Infineon [Sear Point]) for example. Generally the db limit is lower in the morning for tracks that have surrounding houses etc.
Also the usual procedure is to get a mechanical black flag during laps not a fail at tech. If you get BF'd you have to do something to the car to make it quieter such as adding a Supertrap or even making a turndown out of a beer can and hose clamping it on. But basically you cant go back out until you try to correct it.
If you flunk again more improvements etc. Around here you get sent home on the 3rd flunk. So figure out the db and plan. The school cars can make a 100db easily and you will have to get creative (ie. figure out where the mike is and lift a bit and traps etc) if it is very low like 92.

I have run at Blackhawk with NASA and they have a 103db noise limit & didn't have a problem. The NASA guys recommended steelwool in the exhaust pipe, held in place by a piece of screen as a temporary fix if I would have been too loud. My car is a series car with original exhaust.

I have heard of this also being done. Might be bad but seems to work.

So that is what they meant when they told me to "put a cork in it"? I thought I was just talking too much in the drivers' meeting.
NO noise restrictions at Motorsports Ranch (Cresson, TX), Eagles Canyon (northwest of Ft Worth), Texas World Speedway (College Station, TX- WHOOP!) or Motorsports Ranch (southwest of Houston). NASA, SCCA and various HPDE events at these venues. At this time of year we lead the nation in Gatorade and IV's, but the events keep right on happening year round. It should get below 90 by late September, plan ahead, don't be a sissy (check the weather in Baghdad). You won't have any trouble getting heat in the tires! Check out the web sites. Ya'll come!
