check gages light

I have a 99 dodge dakota, and it runs totally fine. Last night i drove to a friends house, was there for 10 minutes, and when i went to leave it wouldnt start. I knew it wasnt the battery because the lights and a/c came on. I tried again this morning and it would start, only if i had my foot on the gas, then when it quit, the Check Gages light came on. Does anyone know what exactly i should be looking for? Its not overheating, and i just had an oil change about 2 weeks ago.
