Spray Paint questions

I just painted R8 body and well, it didn't go well. :lol: I painted outside and made tons of bubble. I know that's caused by spraying too close to the body but if I keep the distance, I am pretty much wasting the paint. (Barely, anything sticks to the body)
I think I will have to sand all the bubbles and repaint it once. :frown:

Here are my questions:
1)How many passes should I make for the same panel?
2)Do you guys paint outside? Any tips on how to "avoid" wind?

something like this? anyone know what i can use to stick bottle/can to the body? for some reason, i cant find any store that carries blu-tac :(

Say Light coats

Take it from one who sprays with cans only. If you are going to spray like the vid,,you had better practice that technique first!!! Its not very easy to master the spray can,as Im sure many will attest too. You really have to kind of develop your own technique. That being said there are some general guidelines you should follow
Myself i usually use at least two-mist coats like in first part of vid. Some people use more,as I said earlier you have to get your own style. I spray from about 8 inches away for mist coats making slower passes. For wet coats its about 4 inches away
moving like the vid..with much faster passes.
Its a very subjective question.

1) Two or four at a time, like one or two quick back and forth swings. The idea is to break the entire surface into sections, like front bumper, rear bumper, left side, right side, hood, roof and trunk lid. When one surface is done, more to another. By the time you finish all surfaces, the paint on the first area should be almost dry, so you can apply another coat (again, one or two quick swings).

2) I do occasionally, and all I can do is face away from the wind to block the wind from directly hitting the model.

another slight OT question...
I painted my seats Flat Black (XF-1) and I tried to paint it with Red and Flat Red. How come these red paints don't stick well? Am I not supposed to paint over another paint?

RULE of thumb..never try to paint a light color over a dark color..doesnt cover well.did you prime part first? more info would help.
Always try to paint the lighter color first then mask and paint dark color.
also certain colors should only be painted over white do get the best results. The yellows ,reds andwhites really only go well over a white base
usually a primer. Another tip:allow adequate drying time between coats
at least a day or two. How long did you allow to dry?
When you post try to always give as much info as possible, You will get more responses in the end.:)

Sorry! I was painting seats and cockpit and they were NOT primed. Drying time was more than 3 days. When I started painting red (or flat red) over flat black, the red seemed to be floating and didn't stick.

As for the body, I tried once again and it seems like it's going to take some time before I don't make any bubbles. I am going to try and paint in the garage for the Enzo.

Another OT question:
Is there a good way to completely take off the paint? I tried polish remover by submerging the part and it does break down the paint but it doesn't come off "clean." Is there a better way of doing so?
