Roadster Door Problem

Ok, Im a moron.. I accidentally. (don't ask) removed the pin under the inside door handle of my 98 roadster.. If you look under the door handle pull on the diablo, you will see a little pin that holds the wire onto the plastic handle.. Anyhow.. I though it would be as easy as slackening the wire and putting the pin back through, but no.. seems that I can't figure a way to slacken the wire.. I took off as much as the door as I could. (A lot is rivetted in) but still no luck.. then i tried taking off the latch mechanism.. but no luck there.. Any ideas diablo owners?
Sincerely,
Jeff G

owned for about a year now.. Great car. my only beef is the somewhat not so elegant interior. (I have been used to ferrari's and porsches..) But other than that. A great ride.. However, our new playtoy is taking up the spotlight.. the Z8.. what in incredible machine.. Ill post some pictures as soon as they get developed.

ValeX20: What a beauty, nice roadster, love the spoiler on it :) Diablos look so much better with a spoiler on. Yours is gorgeous, just like Jabba's roadster, his has the colour coded wheels. About your problem, well I dont really know what to say as I dont own a Diablo myself, but I would say the same thing ofcourse, take it to the Lambo garage near you. Always better incase anything gets messed up. All these Diablo owners making me go CRAZYYYYYYY, doesnt anyone here live in Toronto Canada, and have a Diablo?????????????????????:sun:

what happens if you pull it out like a normal door?
ValeX20
02-26-2003, 07:12 PM
you mean instead of lifting up? It wont like that, but unless you pull real hard, it probably would hurt anything. Truth is, from the outside, there isnt much to pull on, there is just a little button on the top. I guess if you really wanted to mess it up, you could push hard from the outside, but I think anyone already inside the car would realize that the doors dont open that way. And as soon as you lift the handle from the inside, the door starts to go up. It would be a little hard to confuse it. However, and this is a question for other diablo owners, my door doesnt go up by its own, which is the way i think its supposed to be. Does anyone know of a replacement actuator cylinder that would have enough push to do it on its own?

thats what i thought, i just thought i read a post where someone said to push it outwards. maybe im just imagining things, cause i cant find it now.

I dont see what you are trying to get at, explain.

I must have imagined a post in this thread where someone suggested to push the door outwards. I dont know... i must be going crazy.

I noticed in the summer my doors go up on their own.....in the winter they do not...I think its when the gasses in the cylinder are hotter... it gives them more power...it also happens with the rear engine cover on my 355
Sometimes if I try and open my roadster doors to quickly before the window drops down.. then the doors can jam..I am not keen on pulling the window towards you method...so I usually open the other door up then loosen the roof a little...then you can open the door up...but sometimes you need to do a little of everything to un-jam it...damn annoying when it happens though...

May I ask what car is that which is being covered? Looks like an antique... Miura?

no, actually it's a 73 Jaguar E-type that needs to be restored. I keep meaning to get to it, but finding the time.. I dont to pay someone else to do it, it's my project, i just have to find the time.
