What all is involved in replacing one of the horn buttons on a 93 Lesabre, the one where the steering wheel has the horn buttons to the left and right of the center airbag, no radio controls on steering wheel.

The switches are not replaceable without replacing the air bag assy, Click Here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=723304) for an older thread on the same subject.

The switch itself is good, its just that the part you hit with your hand came off, the blue plastic button itself. It looks like it slips into place and stays on with two plastic feet, and it looks like both of those plastic pieces broke.

Sorry for not understanding your first post better and thanks for clarifying, now I know which switch you are talking about. I had the same problem with my 93-LeSabre several years ago and the plastic housing was so warped, that when I tried to remove the 'buttons' for replacement it caused more of the plastic to break. No luck finding parts at the dealer, so off to the JY's. I found several 93's in the JY, but all of them had the same problem. Then I found a pristine 94-LeSabre with a like new steering wheel (same color) with the switches integrated in the air bag as mentioned above. IIRC, I paid 35-bucks for the complete wheel assy, I then removed the '93 steering wheel and replaced with the '94. You might have better luck finding a '93 steering wheel than I did, since several years have passed since then. Good luck!

Wow that is very enlightening and promising, because I have always liked the newer style steering wheel they came out with in 1994. In 1998, I asked my GM dealer what it would take to convert my 93 steering wheel to 1994, and they told me it couldn't be done. Now I know that translates to "we don't know how, so we will just tell you it cant be done".
So I assume the airbag plug-in connectors are the same? Can you give me some basic steps on how you removed the existing one and replaced with the 94? Now i am more interested in doing this than just replacing the button.....

First, start the engine and turn steering wheel until front wheels are pointed straight ahead, then turn OFF all accessories, including A/C before turning the ignition switch off. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable first, then the positive (+). Touch the two cables together to drain any residual power. Verify the alignment of the steering wheel and remove the four screws behind the steering wheel to remove air bag and disconnect wiring for air bag & horn. You are now ready to remove the large nut in the center of the steering column with an impact wrench (if you have one). If you are strong enough, you can remove the steering wheel by pulling on both sides while alternating strong pressure from side to side. I have removed many without a puller, but most mechanics use a puller. If you don't have a puller, you can get a loaner at AZ or Advanced. IIRC, you may need to splice a few wires because the terminals may not be the same between the two years. Installation procedure is reverse of removal. Good Luck!
