Bumper swap

Getting ready to install a usable front bumper, to replace that factory POS. Where are the crash sensors for the air bags located? Don't want to fire one of them while taking off the old bumper. Mine's a 97. Maybe some of you rock crawler guys will know about this?

Thanks for any help.
Bob

I am thinking that the sensors are located on the vehicle body, not the bumper, I know this due to ripping my front bumper off of my 01 after having it for a week, no airbags deployed, just twisted metal. Point, if you install front tow hooks, get the kind that have a bracket the actually extends back about 4" for more secure attachment. (4wd.com) not the Rubicon Express style!

Thanks for that info gtmud. I'll for sure check out the hooks you suggest. Never know when ya might need to use them, especially here in sunny AZ, where our rivers usually run just under the surface.
