Summer Love - Ferrari F355 Spider 1/24

Good afternoon ....
I do not know if you miss, but after the necessary break to recover from the construction of the 3 Testarossa I am back ... with the my summer (illegal !!??) love ...

History
F, as Ferrari
35, as 3.5 liters, or if you prefer by 3496 cm2
5 as five valves per cylinder.
Even once the code is a part of Ferrari betrays specifications. Part because estimate 380 horsepower (109 horses in liter without Turbo), 37 kg.m torque, 3.55 pounds / horsepower and 300 mm final speed!

To 1994, the Ferrari has replaced the baby Testarossa 348 to 355, returning to classic archetypes shape the range of V8 car started with 308 and 328. The plain draft Pinifarina is now a classic and the writer is in love ever since ...
One year later and released an open edition Spider.

Subject Choice
Looking at the Testarossa project in my stock (which has now become dangerously large - 1 loft and one wardrobe!), I chose this car ...
What better summer issue, I thought, from an open Ferrari ... a Summer Love ... The small number of parts and the usual quality of the Japanese company predispose for a pleasant and no problem construction gave even some points in the selection.
And so the box came down from the shelf and opened on the bench.

The Kit
The Fujimi offers almost all the known versions of the F355 (berlinneta, targa, spider, challenge, etc.) on a simple kit, with good shape, few pieces, without engine, good casting, but many shortcomings, which discovered, opening the box ...

If not already noticed the note the lack pedal the wrong hood and the lack of investment in the doors. And if the first rectified relatively easily, investments in doors require strong scratcarisma for the construction of zero nos. The shock was strong and the hope for a quiet straight from box building, walk ... went to the nearest beach in Halkidiki ...

Body Work
And require plenty of work on the chassis of this small Ferrari and in particular to opening the engine grilles + 2 front grilles.. (Applies to all of the F355 the Fujimi kit’s).

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_010.jpg

But I was prepared and directly started gathering the necessary tools ...

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_011.jpg

Slavery is opening many holes in the lath for smaller in length and volume with the (dental) engravings tool for longer. The final finishing is done by cutter, sandpapers and very - very carefully job because the remaining parties are now very sensitive.

To see the result of his work, I went to a white primer coat of primer and two lifecolor quickly hand painted with the red Gunze.
We must point out that in this project do not expect car paints and varnishes according as the Testarossa. The damn skin (dermatopathy) that still hunts (acquired in the last stages of Testarossa construction), effectively banning me dealing with the modeling (so the illegal at the beginning of the article ...). Ignoring the recommendations of doctors, at least tried to avoid danger paints.
Back to classic acrylic and then the result looks something like this...

Excellent job on opening the rear deck gills! You certainly have plenty of what it's needed to be a successful modeler: patience!

Looking forward to see the next steps!

You might want to contact user Nniemi (Nikko). He created 355 interior door panels and resin-cast them. I bought a few sets from him. He did an excellent job. You just need to modify the dash to seemlessly integrate the dash and door panels like on the real car.

I do it for my berlinetta.
In spider I already do it. :)

Nice, this is my favorite ferrari!! Progress is great, opening up the rear deck lid makes the build stand out so much more. Looks like its a tedious job, but it will pay off. Will it be red?

Maybe you find it ridiculous but the result its quite accurate.
I use Lifecolors Earth Yellow!!!!!:p (FS 30257).
You can see it, In my Testarossa 's WIP. I use in it, two different tan colors for 512tr and Testarossa.

Hello again ...
The improvements, which required in this kit, which preparations for my upcoming engagement, something that consistently breaks the continuity of my Summer Love delayed more than expected. I hope to compensate you, with this presentation ...

Home Affairs ...
The most important task that requires the creation of internal doors.
In the kit are like this ...
http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_018.jpg

While the reality is something else ...

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_019.jpg

Implementation began with the design on paper ...

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_020.jpg

Then with plastic sheets I tried to represent the project in three-dimensional form. After many trials, putting and sanding, the result is something like this ...

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_021.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_022.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_023.jpg

Similar improvements are required and seating both in the back (classic are hollow) and in their base. Also removed the headrests and stuck in elevated position.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_024.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_026.jpg

A minor upgrade requires the hood (given in a closed position). Surgery was essentially the hem! Which was converted from mini to maxi ... using plastic sheet.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_027.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_028.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_029.jpg

The interior parts painted with Earth Yellow (FS 30257) and the Satin Black from Lifecolor. Then I made the carpet (Flocking).

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_030.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_031.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_032.jpg

Also I added the seat belts and embossed mark on the steering wheel.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_033.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_034.jpg

With the assembly of basic parts, I complete the interior construction. To do this I make the following additions:
1) pedal from a kit of 550 that for some reason had two sets ...
2) by photoetch throttle pedal and a plastic base
3) gear lever by pin ball and epoxy putty
4) gear base and starter from photoetch
5) buckle belts from plastic sheets
6) marks and logos «F355 Spider» by photoetch

The result of the implementation of the above is:

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_036.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_037.jpg

Stay tuned ... Soon, we will be followed by painting and assembly of mechanical parts.
I await for your comments.

My friends good evening,
Before I begin with the presentation of the progress of my summer love, I would like to thank you for your kind words and your support.
I hope to compensate you with the final result ...

Mechanical Intrigues...

The assembly of mechanical parts began with the removal of the relief absorbers for the subsequent replacement with metal wire.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_038.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_039.jpg

The chassis and other mechanical parts painted with semi-gloss black.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_040.jpg

The kit provides only the lower part of the engine, which was painted with the Alclad Aluminium, while the lower part of the cistern exhaust Alclad’s Burnt Metal. For paint effect I paint the gearbox with a light hand of Burnt Metal over Aluminium.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_041.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_042.jpg

Assembled the front and rear suspension ..

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_043.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_044.jpg

The chassis drybrushing with gun metal and aluminium and the screws that hold the chassis painted with Humbrol’s polished aluminium.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_045.jpg

As noticed the exhaust pipes are built into the subframe of the engine look like worst than the old Burrago model.
So I decided to act. For start I took advantage of the absence of my little brother and «stole» a foldable lens. Then I cut and trim four small cylindrical parts. Again I reshape it to the upper edge is greater than the bottom, and seem to exhaust rather than stove...

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_046.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_047.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_048.jpg

Also fitted the four disc brakes, no improvements at this time, because those are the actual match. I added photoetch with the Brembo logo.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_049.jpg

Finally I assembled the chassis and suspension parts...

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_050.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_051.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_052.jpg

Stay tuned, though then a little late and body bleach (I was not satisfied with the final polishing of) and started painted with a Zero primer this time. I hope all goes well and in early autumn to finish my summer love ...
I await for your comments.
Thank for looking

Good evening my friends, from beautiful Greece again,
unfortunately the changes in my personal life (engagement and established winter move to Kavala city – In the weekend happily back in my favourite Thessaloniki city!), have turned my summer love to autumn rains...
So I present the progress on the:

Body Painting
Do not expect anything special this time, just a photographic representation of the steps followed for the painting.
The result is not very good, generally the painting is not my best :banghead:, but I try to be better. So your advises are very welcome

And two semi-wet! Coats ...

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_057.jpg

The colour succumbed to wet sanding with 4000 and 6000 degrees ...

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_058.jpg

These steps followed by two mist coats and a one wet coat of 1K Zero Clear ...

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_059.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_060.jpg

As I expected, during drying appeared texture, which I hope will be eliminated during the polishing. It is true?

The only improvement are the addition of carbon decal to simulate the surface underneath the engine hood. For this purpose created a pattern from Tamiya tape, under which cut the carbon decal.

My friends good evening,
a small upgrade to the construction of my F355 is the subject of this publication…

Polish the honorable!
After polishing the bodywork, I painted mat black the rubbers of windshield and doors. We present before the polishing because I like it ...

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_063.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_064.jpg

The re-masking ended without casualties, and then stuck the side vents and put the necessary mesh in the front grill and engine hood...

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_065.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_066.jpg

Having removed the tape further the bonding, the body can be photographed polished!!
The polishing except very grating includes the sequential use of the following:
1) The treatment Model Wax the Final Detail
2) Silicon Glaze of Amway (wax - car polish!)
3) Tamiya Modeling Wax

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/F355%20Spider/WIP_F355_Spider_067.jpg
