after getting a copy of gran turismo, i found inspiration for my next project!

here's the plan:

http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/945386fto_project.jpg

however, the rims turned out to be really small and the tires really thick. besides getting new wheels, i don't want to stare at the television set for reference. that's where i hope to get a bit of help from my fellow modelers out there :D . does anyone know if i am able to get some reference pix on the net? the pic that you see there is the only one i can come up with. the rest are just gaming sites listing the car and its fantasy specs. me... i'm just interested in the body kit and not so much the sponsorship decals.

the kit itself is okay. i don't foresee any major difficulties besides the vents on the rear bumper. since the interior is unseen, there's room for alot of imagination in terms of roll cages and such. i'm torn between stripping the interior for a more competition look or using the tub and the rest to hide the wiring for some lights. i don't think i can do both as the wiring would be difficult to hide without the tub. anyway, any help with some reference pictures from this game would be much appreciated.

thanks for the reference photos! what did you do your search under?

i really REALLY wished that i had seen these before i started. the front end on the acutal car is much more rounded than that of the game graphics. not to mention that the back end is vastly different as well. i was so irked that i cut out some of the front end to change the profile... we'll see how it goes. it'll be a mix of the two breeds...

You've got some mad skills!
I'm thinking you've got an artistic molding ability. Or maybe lots of practice. ;)

I'll watch out for this one.
Maybe you can do a top secret supra like Subway. I think you would be able to do it. This body kit looks a LITTLE similar.(note) a liitle.

:bandit:

(BTW) i know he is building an FTO.

all that work into making the front and rear flares as well as the cutting of the back bumper is going to waste...

after looking at the ref. material fotw has supplied and doing a bit more research on the internet, i've come to the conclusion that the profile of the car in the game itself is off from what reality really is. the front end is not as sharp and defined but more rounded while the rear end has more linear lines than curves.

it looks like the front end is a bit more elongated and the vents on the rear bumper and sides do not exist.

what this comes down to is this: i have to redo the stinking thing!!! arghhhhh!!!! time to chisel off all that putty and plasitc and fill up that gapping hole in the rear bumper! over twenty hours gone to waste... not to mention the countless times i had to fire up the old ps2 for reference. moral of the story: never count on a video game for correct and accurate reference material.

maybe this would give me a chance to do a build up on this project... we'll see how the availability of the digicam coincides with the building of this kit.

Maybe you could save the real one for a later FTO kit? Just do this up as a tuner model! :)

thanks for the support. i think i'm gonna put this one on the back burner for now and think about what to do with it. i'm just a bit disappointed with what i have on hand right now but no worries. maybe i should've waited a bit longer before i started... eh fly?;)
