I have a 2002 f150 with the 5.4 triton. It now has over 100k miles on it. I have just got done changing all fluids, trans, transfer, oil, antifreeze, etc. It is running ok, but has a slightly rough idle. I want to tune it up, but have heard the spark plug horror stories. I love the truck, and want to keep it running good. What should I do to the motor to keep it running good? Also, do the front 4x4 hubs need repacked like the old style did? I have done no mods to this truck other than cutting the muffler off, and replacing it with a test pipe, that makes this truck sound good, but not too loud. Thanks for any information.

You do not repack the front wheelbearings, they are sealed units. They are known for eating coils when a missfire code comes.Put in Autolite or Motorcraft spark plugs and do not put in Bosch plugs.Bosch plugs do not last and are a piece of junk. Also change the fuel filter,it is a part of a tune up and is the most neglected part to change due to being under the vehicle.A plugged up fuel filter will put a strain on the fuel pump and kill it.
