Super detailing a 599 GTB, Need some help...

I'm getting ready to super detail a Ferrari 599 GTB. I'll be using the Revell of Germany and Fujimi kits plus PE detail sets. I've spent quite a bit of time collecting and taking photos, including at the Ferrari met last April in Hinsdale Illinois.

What I haven’t been able to get, are any photos of the undercarriage and suspension with the car lifted. The fellow at Continental Motor Sports opened up the 599 there so I could a load of detail, but I thought it was pushing it a bit too much asking him to put it on lift.:)

I know the undercarriage is aerodynamic and pretty nondescript, but I wanted to get some detail on it. The closest I’ve gotten is captured video from the Ferrari factory assembly from the Super Factory series.

I was wondering if anyone had a source they could pass on or photos to share?

Hi, I had tried to get those pictures too but gave halfway because i'm not superdetailing it. Well im very excited to see that you are going to attempt a super detail 599 but i'm just concern about the fact that you are using a Revell kit. Im not against the entire Revell kit but hate about the inaccuracies of the wheels in the kit unless you have decided to change it anyway. Nevertheless, i strongly recommend that you should use a Fujimi kit instead because of its better accuracies and i think this will make your work more worthwhile.

If you really want some pics, you might consider asking if you can take them yourself at the shop. My experience with Ferrari techs is that they're generally good guys, and they're at least as into cars as we are. If you explain what you want and what it's for (and are willing to suffer the possibility of a strange look), you might find that they wouldn't mind at all if you take some pics the next time they have a 599 on a lift. I've certainly been in, around, and under Ferraris a number of times at the dealer/shop near me.

I am using the Fujimi and Revell kits. Plus, I will be using a custom 20 inch wheel. I have 3 choices in mind.

As regards the suggestion of getting the pics at the shop, I've got feelers out to two Ferrari dealers in the area, but no calls yet.

Hello,
i havent had any look yet aswell. However i can recommend the following site which is fantastic for superdetailing. There are lots of cars (ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati) to choose from including the 599. It is split up into sections beside the "quick browse" link, There are coach work diagrams which shows the chassis build up of the 599 and main body work including a little reference on the undercarrige. The mechanical section shows the build of the engine, transmission etc.

Although these are diagrams they show lots of detail and are good reference for wiring. I hope this helps you, lots of other ferraris on it as well for other models.

While detailed pics of the underside are nice, not sure it's worth it, considering that the underside of new Ferraris are covered in black plastic. The only thing you'd be detailing are nuts and bolts.

I also was at the event and asked the guy to open the hood tot ake some pics but they said they didn't find the keys at that moment, I see that they finally did, but I wasn't there, bad, any way, would you mind sharing the pics you took of the engine?
