2000 Taurus water bubbling out of the overflow when car is shut off. Gauge does not show HOT shows normal. If you start the car back up fluid pulls back down into radiator. Both fans seem to be not working but by replacing these fans will this solve my problem or might this be more involved. Water pump is brand new 1st thought this was the cause of th overheating but wasn't. please help I can get the right fan to wor when ac is on max and I spin it but it doesnt seem to spin very fast...

Have you considered that you might have a blown head gasket or other cyl head problem?

Hey Giz, I know what you are saying about the overflow tank boiling over. Basically the system has to be able to hold 16 lbs of pressure. If it doesn't, the internal temperature goes up and may end up coming out of the tank cap, as is intended to relieve the pressure. If you have the original tank, it may be wise to check it for hairline cracks. If it checks okay, a replacement cap may be next. In regards to your cooling fans, they should both come on full tilt when the AC is on. They extremely help cool down the engine.
Since you changed the waterpump and drained the fluid, I've read its best to purge the system by waiting until the system is cooled down; if possible , its best to do it with the front end facing up on a slope;fill half- up overflow tank and leave cap off and let engine idle for 10-15 minutes,reving it once in a while. Good luck and then cap it and check the level the next few days.

2 new fans and a new overflow tank and no more overheating. now I have to tackle the task of flushing the heater core and replacing the old metal lined hoses to get my heat back before winter comes along

Glad you got it done, and its okay. I replaced them heater lines a while back. Its a bitch to do because you're slumped over the engine. Naturally, some coolant will leak out. To get more room and comfort, its best to remove the left side upper and lower cowl by removing a few clips and screws. Then you can check and clean or replace the cabin filter also. There are 2 screws that mount the heater lines to the firewall. Unclamp about 4 lines and gently tug at the heater core to loosen. When all removed, backflush core with minumal pressure using garden hose both ways to see the extent of the passage of the heater core. I would recommend flushing the system beforehand even with the old coolant tank.
