95 Grand Prix Stereo Problem

I have a 95 Grand Prix and have a problem with the stereo. When I try to put in a tape in the cassette player, it will not take it and puts out a "E13" error code. Looking in the manual, it shows that I need to clean the head. I bought a head cleaner for it, but can not use it because the radio will not accept any tapes. Does anyone have any fixes for this that doesn't involve taking out the radio?

I HAVE to have either a tape player or cd player because I have to play baby music for my infant daughter or she'll scream. I'm considering a CD changer, but would prefer to have my tape player working normally if that is the cheaper route.

EDIT: the am/fm radio function works, just not the tape player.

Thanks in advance.

this is gonna sound stupid but is there a tape in there? wait, E13. nvm. my mom's 95 oldsmobile cutlass supreme im currently driving around in (since i totaled my gtp and i hate myself for) does the same thing. but it will accept the cd but it wont spit it back out. but thats a rare occurance. i'd take it in to a mechanic shop or somthin. thats what i had to do. sorry if that doesnt help. im clueless:confused:

yeah... I too am having this problem, but it works some of the time, i think it has to do with the head being cleaned. yes you cleaned it, but it doesn't know that you cleaned it, when reading the manual, i came across a part saying that the tape deck has a (I belive) 500 hour clock maybe 50... bu whatever, but once that time has expired, it wants you to clean the heads, and then type in a code that resets the clock... I don't know what the code is, and if it is different for every car... but it should be in the manual.. hope this helps
