hard to start when cold

my 1988 caprice classic has always started up great when cold starting just 2 gas pedal pumps and it would start up everytime... i recently had a motor vac test done because i have a pinging sound when i accelerate and uphill, they said my fuel lines were normal no leaks, but they also said depending on the amount of build up of carbon in the combustion chamber there is a chance that a piece of carbon could get stuck into a sparg plug or valve causing misfire, and since then my car has ran fine would still start up when cold starting, but then i did a tune-up plugs, plug wires, pvc valve, distriputor cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter. And acouple days later my car started to stall when i would come to a complete stop at a light or stop sign and then i would try to accelerate and it would stall for a second and then go, and as of this week it hasnt stalled at all coming to stops, or accelerating, but for some reason everytime i try to cold start my car now and depress the gas pedal acouple times it now takes atleast 3 attemps before the car will start, and all attemps giving to gas pedal acouple pumps each. and after if does start up on the 3rd attempt the engine shakes irratically, and it seems like the engine almost is gonna putter out sometimes but doesnt die.
please help

You may want to check that the choke is operating properly and that the choke pull off is also working.
It may be time for a carb rebuild.
Also check that the EGR valve is not stuck open because of carbon build up, That can cause a rough running condition and stalling.

since this occured after the work replacing parts,,,,redo the distributor,,,I suspect the cap /coil connections not correct...installed incorrectly...
did you measure the plug wire resistance on the NEW wires////??? this is required as the quality of parts is poor...
don't mess with the choke if it worked before this other work, and it has not been changed worked on.....
pinging is usually a vacuum leak on these old carb engines...too many lines not being replaced,,,as the leaks add up the engine starves for fuel and you get lean running...also a lot of unfiltered air damaging the engine...
my carb engine has a vac of 19 inches and steady,,,this is good at idle..use a vac guage to find leaks or if all the lines are cracked brittle split soft replace them all...pcv hoses and pcv should be replaced..
