At how many miles do i go before replacing it? The car has 163,000 miles and it was last done in July 1999 at 85,555 miles.I live in southern calif. If you guys recommend that I replace it can I do it myself meaning are there special tools I need?
I am a backyard mechanic and I have worked on cars all my life but never did a timing belt. I am in the process of selling this car but if I can change the timing belt and water pump myself I would feel better knowing the new owner has a good start. The owners manual says change it at 90,000 miles.
Do anyone have the instructions on how to do this? If someone does can you forward them to me.I am retired so I have plenty of time to do this. Thanks
