Looking to buy...

Hi everbody. I'm looking to buy a 3000gt in the very near future. I currently have two cars, one of them being a 1999 mitsubishi galant. I bought the car for a $500 with a perfect body with absolutely no rust. The owner was some indian guy that thought the engine was blown because it had a very rough idle. Little did i know it was just a misfire. I've kept it ever since with everything in great condition and using synthetic everything. I'm planning on selling it soon and getting any model 3000gt.

So for the main question and topic of the post: I've seen a couple of cheap ones for sale locally, but is there anything i need to know? the Pro's-Cons of these cars? I'm considering one that is high mileage (~100k miles). I've heard of some cases where the tranny can blow out on you, but i'm looking for an automatic, most likely an SL model. Any info would be great as to reliability, maintenence, and performance. Thanks!

suggest you read the FAQs...but the basics for shopping for a non-turbo;
97-99 base model 3000gts have a 161hp SOHC motor...so avoid them if you want any sort of performance.
Make sure the 60k maintenence is up to date.
Check for smoke on start-up. A little bit of smoke is fairly normal, but anything excessive is likely valve stem seals.
