2001 Maxima Aux input?

Hey, I'm trying to hook up an auxiliary input for my ipod/mp3 players to my 2001 Maxima stock bose stereo. I pulled the stereo out, and the only input open in the back is a 12 pin input, which I'm pretty sure is the CD changer input (not being used). I've found some fairly expensive options to use this input for total iPod control, but there are two things wrong with this. 1. Expensive, they run around $120 or more. 2. That option only works for iPod. My wife has a "non-ipod", so we just want a regular 1/8 inch jack to plug into and play.

So I'm basically looking for the cheapest option to wire a couple RCA inputs to my stereo so I can plug our mp3 players in. I've done some research, and found that I could go with an FM modulator, which still runs around $50 or more, which isn't unreasonable, but I was hoping that with the CD changer input being unused there would be a cleaner read-to-go option I could use.

I guess I could do that. Bit of a hack job but it would work. Any other solutions anyone?

No ..... that converts your amplied outputs from your OEM headunit to RCA's, so you can easily add amps/EQ's and the such. You are looking for an input.

I came across a thread with exactly the device I'm looking for, but it is for Ford vehicles. Here is the device. (http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piefrdwaux.html) This would be exactly what I need. No splicing, nothing, just plug into the CD changer port and go. You know of a comparable part for Nissan?

at a shop today. I don't know if they make a cable for the Nissan stuff though, you will have to look. Looks like all of the options are in the $75+ range

Well, thanks for the ideas. After so much searching around, I finally decided to just go with the more expensive option, and go with the USA Spec PA11-NIS. It's an all-in-one, charge-power-control solution. You can see it here. (http://www.usaspec.com/product.php?ProductID=30) I got one on eBay for $122. A little more than I was wanting to spend, but before I was thinking that it would only allow for the iPod, with no option for any other mp3 players. After looking further at it, I realized it has a secondary set of regular inputs so my wife could still hook up her mp3 player if she wanted. I think that will be a pretty sweet option. With one cable plugging into my iPod, it will charge it, play it through my CD Changer input, and allow me to control it via the stereo and steering wheel controls. It doesn't get much better than that. Now to find the perfect mount... :iceslolan

Agreed, I realized that after seeing I would need a charger, and other crap to get a similar output with more hassle.
