Welcome to AF

Well, considering that Innisfil has only about 10 houses in it, I guess you are the one doing all the yelling and swearing?

j/k. :)

A buddy had a Chevy 350 that had been sitting for many years with no oil in it, with the same problem. The check ball for the oil pressure relief valve is stuck, probably by rust.

This valve is located in the oil pump. It is simply a small steel ball held in place by a small spring. When the pump builds full pressure, the oil pressure forces the ball away from its seat, allowing excess oil to bleed off back into the pan.

If the ball is stuck, the excess pressure will easily rupture the filter.

The oil pump needs to be removed and inspected. If you are lucky, you may be able to free-up the ball with some penetrating lube and some fiddling with it. If its truly rusted in there, then you need a new oil pump.
