1997 Neon Stick shift stuck

97 neon 4 cylindar single cam 5 speed
I was parking the car, and the selector stick felt like it slipped out. The car seems to still be in gear, tho i'm not sure. I can move the stick up and down but not side to side, and in the middle where i would start moving it side to side there is something there i can feel. moving it back and forth doens't really do anything. Please help.

Check the bushings on the tranny and inside the console.

i first say under the shifter boot then check on the tranny. had the same thing happen it was under the boot.
