ac blower fan switch

I was thinking about replacing my AC blower speed switch with a toggle switch. I don't need 4 speeds so I was just gonna use the hi and lo on a on/off/on toggle switch and block off the other wires. Anybody see any problems with this?

I have had half a dozen s10's over the years and have had trouble with that switch and/or the connector with all of them. I guess it's because it's so hot here in Florida that I run it on HI ALL the time, year round and it burns them out.

How many amps should the fan on HI draw? Should I fuse it?
