my oil light comes on when I stop and idle is 800-900 rpms. Any idea what causes this? is it possibly bad IAC valve? 2000 Lincoln LS V6

Have you checked the oil level?

yes, oil level is normal, no loss of oil

It's not the IAC. 750 RPM to 900 RPM is in the normal idle range.
You either have a bad oil pressure switch, or you have low oil pressure. If you have low oil pressure, you are doing damage to your engine.
You should have the car towed to a garage that can put a mechanical oil pressure gauge on the engine and determine if the pressure is really low.

Thanks for the response. Is the oil pressure switch easily accessable and simple to change on Lincoln LS V6? where is it located?

On the V8, it's by the oil filter. I assume it is the same for the V6.
