Unfortunately, no… 12.50s are too wide of a tire for your rim, assuming you current rim is stock. The current 225 75/R15 tire you have now is the stock OEM that came on your truck. This particular size tire has a manufacturer’s rim width range of 6.5-8.0 inches with the stock OEM rim being 6.5 inches. Your rim is much too narrow for a 12.50 wide tire. The minimum width of the rim (and this based on many a truck enthusiasts opinion) should be at least 8.0 inches for a 12.50 wide tire. Many run this combination as well as using an 8.50 thru 10.50 rim width. Generally, you should always keep the rims to within 2-2.5 inches of the width of the tire, e.g. 12.50 tires, 10.0 inch rims. However, a lot of people use the 12.50 tire with 8.0 rims and do just fine while others prefer to use wider rims as in the example above. It’s really about preference such as handling or look. Your application though, will not work… The tire is too wide for the rim and would make the truck extremely unsafe to drive. Getting a set of wider rims would be a solution. I recently purchased a set of 10.0 inch Cragar Series 441, PN: CRR4415850 for $74.95 a piece for my 89 C1500 and they look great as well as reasonably priced. Those 12.50s your interested in would fit these rims and look sweet. Hope this helps.

Having owned my '90 since new, I've tried lots of tires and sizes. For street/highway use I've settled on 255-70 x 15. Perfect fit on my 8 x 15 Rally wheels, and diameter is the same as OE 235-75 x 15s so the speedo and odometer read correctly. I recommend BFG Radial T/As, getting over 60,000 miles life.

I run 255/70X15s on my Suburban on the 8" Chevy Rally wheels. They give extra width and are EXACTLY the same diameter as the stock 235/75X15s, so no speedometer error.
